Karissa's 4 Month Checkup

Karissa has passed the 4 month mark and is now 14 pounds, 3 ounces - up about a pound from a month ago; and 25 inches - up about an inch from last month. She is in the 90th percentile for length, meaning that only 10% of babies in America are longer. She had two more shots today - both given in her thigh, and she cried and quickly developed a hard bump where the needle was. Poor thing. She was grumpy and sad most of the day, but finally just went to sleep.
Her head circumference is 40.5 centimeters, which puts her in the 30th percentile. She still has a fairly narrow head, a result of her laying flat on her back too much. She just does not like laying on her tummy too much. It's not great, but it's not really an issue. The doctor didn't seem alarmed, nor was Jason - Keith's cousin who is a pediatrician - who saw Karissa over Christmas. With a full head of hair, it's hard to tell anyone's true head shape, and lots of people have heads that are just more narrow or pointed than others. Karissa may not have a clinically perfect round head, but with a full head of hair nobody would ever know. She's healthy and happy, and for that we are very grateful.
